Bugalu's Craft Blog: You're one in a melon

You're one in a melon

Hello everyone,
What a beautiful day it has turned out to be.  Better yet, it looks like a beautiful weekend ahead.  For me this means more work in the garden.  That compost bin will not clean itself out....lol.  I started dehydrating my tomotoes today.  My house is filled with the aroma of them plus the chili I am making for dinner.  I love this time of year because I start "putting up" all of the fruits of my labors...no pun intended.  Speaking of puns...I just love the Pink Stamper's stamps with all of the puns on them.  I am going to add more of her stamps to my Christmas list.
I found this cute paper with melons on it so I knew that it called for a cute melon card.

I used:
Cricut's "Preserves"
Pink Stamper's "Fruit and Veggie Puns"

Happiness is a Butterfly!

My youngest started school yesterday so that meant that I had the whole day to myself to craft.  I stayed in my PJ's most of the day and cranked up the radio and drank ice tea.  I know, I am such a party animal....lol.  I have to say that I missed time to myself this summer.  There were some days when I just didn't want to hear "Mom" one more time.

I made this card yesterday.  The colors really pop!
I used:
Cricut's "Give a Hoot"
Pink Stamper's "Buggy Punnies"
and glitter glue

I will admit if I ever replicate this card I will use a texture plate on the Butterfly.  I think it would add more to it!

Ok, I finally bought a "Pink Stamper" stamp set and I love it.  It goes perfectly with Cricut's "Preserves".  I actually bought 2 of her stamp sets and I used them to make a bunch of new cards that are soooo cute!  Tell me what you think.

I was inspired to make this card by the background paper.  I just love the little chicks and I knew that "Just Because" cards had a chick to match this.  I couldn't pass it up.  Plus I just loved the orange and red combo.
I used:
Cuttlebug's "Swiss Dots"
Cricut's "Just Because" cards

Little Things

I found this paper and fell in love with it.  It reminds me of some wallpaper my parents had once in the 70's...lol.  I just love texture on my cards so the velvet really added that to this card.
I used:
StampinUp's "Full of Life"
Cricut's "Accent Essentials"
DCWV "La Creme" matstack

Don's Birthday card

My youngest brother turned 40 this year.  I always struggle with cards for the men in my life.  There is a fine balance when it comes to being too girlie on a card.  I made this for him because I liked the muted flowers.
I used:
StampinUps "Full of Life"

Perfect Pear

I made this card for my nephew and his wife.  I thought it was so dorky that it was cute.  They seemed to love it.

It has been a while

So sorry about not posting anything for the last few weeks.  I have had my hands full.  My son graduated from HS, we had a grad. party for him and a friend, my mother-in-law came to visit, my youngest brother came to visit and we had a 4th of July party.  Now I am getting ready to go camping and getting my son's administrative stuff done for college in Fall.  All of this plus I am 7 weeks post op from some surgery I had.  Boy, now that I put it all down in writing I realize how much I have been doing.

Anyway, I did manage to make 3 new cards and I will be posting them soon.  I don't want anyone to think that I have given up on my blog.  I hope all of you are having a wonderful summer and that you are using your sunscreen.

I thought I would mention the sunscreen because I just went into our travel trailor and did my inventory for our summer camping.  I found 12.....yes that is right, 12 containers of sun screen.  Some old and some new.  Since my husband's diagnosis with melanoma a few years back, I have been obsessed with sun protection for my husband and children.  My husband jokingly told me that I need to find an addiction group to help me with my obsession.  LOL!  Oh well, it could be a worse addiction :-P.

Prom 09'

My son at his Jr. Prom last year.  I used Cricut's "Plantin SchoolBook" and Cricut's "Accent Essentials".  I also added glitter glue.  I covered the girls face because she is under 18 and I did not think it was appropriate to show her face without her parent's permission.

So Sweet!

I once again used my Preserve cart for this card.  I also bought some adorable face stamps from Peachy Keen.  I added some glitter glue and ribbon and DADA.....a cute card.

For Mother's Day my hubby bought me Cricut's "Preserves"  I love, love, love it.  Besides making cards with it I plan to use it for all of my home made gifts that I pass out from my canning, dehydrating and putting up.  I couldn't wait to use it.
I used:
Cricut's "Preserves"
Cuttlebug's "Spots and Dots"
Glitter Glue

Snow Much Fun!

We had a huge amount of snow in Dec 08.  As you can see my family and I made sure to enjoy it too.  It is great when your own home turns into a Winter Wonderland!

Father's Day Card

I am just recovering from some surgery so it has been a while since I last posted.  I bought Cricut's "Give A Hoot" because my husband is such an outdoors men and I can use soooo many of the cuts on this cart for his hunting activities.  Having said that, I realized as I was going through the brochure that this cart is all about conservation.......Ok, so don't get on me for using it for hunting.  I bought it and I can use it anyway I want....Right.  That is my story and I am sticking to it.  :-p

Tuesday night Crafts with Meredith!

What a wonderful first demonstration from Meredith!  Like I said, she is now a demonstrator for StampinUp!  She was fantastic and so were her craft ideas.  She even served a fab chocolate cake.  I predict that she is going to be very successful at her new job.

A couple of big things happening!

That is right, a couple of big things are happening for me when it comes to crafting.  My darling friend, Meredith has become a StampinUp! demonstrator!  I am very excited for her.  She is planning some great get togethers and card/project classes.  I can not wait to see what she comes up with.  Also, I have 2 new Cricut carts......."Preserves" and "Just Because Cards".  I also have ordered "Give a Hoot"  I have already created a couple of cards with the Preserves that I will be sharing soon.  This is all very exciting.  Stay tuned for more updates!

"Prince Henry" Scrapbook page

Last year in the 5th grade, my daughter had to do a presentation on Prince Henry the Navigator.  We borrowed a pirate's coat and hat (made by my darling friend, Meredith) and added some embellishments.  My daughter transformed into Prince Henry.  I love that the teacher did this.  What a great way for the students to learn!
I used:
  • Cricut's "Going Places"
  • Cricut's "Doodletype"

Graduation Card Box

My son will be graduating from High School in June.  Traditionally in our family we have a party and have a card box.  The box is for guest to put their cards in so that we do not misplace them during the party. I started creating a box on my own but then I was at the "Dollar Tree" and I found this box for $1.00.  I brought it home and made the sign and TA DA......a card box.  Believe me, this box is much better than what I was creating.
I used:
  • Cricut "Accent Essentials"
  • Cricut "Plantin SchoolBook"
  • Cricut "Wild Card"

Father and Daughter Bonding

This was a special event for my husband and daughter.  My husband is a serious hunter and he has been taking our children with him for years.  I just had to document this special event.  I keep a seperate scrapbook for all of his hunting pictures.  I do them in 8 1/2 x 11.  He likes them very plain and to the point.  You will notice there are no frills to this page.....this is exactly how he likes it.

I have been asked to do more scrapbooking layouts

I started out as a scrap booker.  Twelve years ago my daughter was baptized and I had all of these beautiful pictures that I wanted to show off of her special day.  So I went to Michaels and got a few pre-fab pages and next thing I knew I was hooked.  It started simple with me spending about $20.00 a month on supplies.  I used our dinning room table to do my work.  Soon I out grew the dining room so my hubby and I put in a nice computer hutch in his office.  Well this was fine when he was not in there working.  But the room was just too small for the two of us together.   So, we finally made the big decision to turn the guest room into my craft room.
Up until that point I was just a scrapper.  But, a friend got me hooked on cards and now it seems like I am always doing cards and I need to spend more time on scrapping.  So, I am making a commitment to myself to scrap more.  My kids, although they are 12 and 18, still like to look through the scrap books.  I need to stay on top of this for them.  Also, my daughter enjoys doing pages with me.  So I am recommitting myself.  So stay tuned for more Scrapping!

Mothers Day card

It is time to start thinking of Mother's Day!  I have a couple of Mother's Day cards to make so I thought I would get a head start.  This stamp is one of my favorites.  It looks good embossed or just in black ink, colored in or not.....It is truely a classy stamp just perfect for a deserving mom.

St. Paddy's Day

Saint Patrick's Day!
Although there isn't any Irish blood in our family we still like to celebrate the day.  What I mean by celebrate is prepare all the foods that we love to eat on St. Patrick's Day.  So, I made corned beef and cabbage because we all like that.  But as a twist I made a green pudding pie for a snack later tonight.  We will see how that goes over with the family.
I had time to do this one card with my idea of a 4 leaf clover.  I hope you like it!
I used:
  • Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots"
  • Sizzix "Large Dots"
  • Green Crystal sticker
  • White shear ribbon
  • "Good Luck" from StampinUp's Fundamental Phrases

Busy Sunday!

No crafting today unfortunately.  Lots of moss in my yard that has to be cleaned up before we can put more grass seed down.  I am trying to improve my lawn because in June my son is graduating and we will be having family come for the big event.  I want everything to look nice.  Well, easier said then done.  It is not so easy to dig this stuff up when it is mixed in with good grass and we have such a large area that needs to be done.  I usually like working in the yard but this was no fun at all.  I also spent time paying bills and going over some lesson plans with a friend that is working on her masters in teaching.  So, it was a busy day with no crafting.  Hopefully I will be back to crafting soon!

Oh Boy, this blog thing has not been as easy as I thought

I have had to switch blogs because I got a virus.   I don't know how it happened but it did.  Thanks for sticking with me and sorry for the difficulties.  So I am going to give it another try.  Starting tomorrow I will be transferring over my old stuff and posting new stuff.  Thanks for hanging in there <3
